Having a system track inventory and what stage it is in has been incredibly helpful. It also has helped our team have a more clear delineation of the order of operations for each product in our catalog.”

Bulk actions, bulk edit, managing qr codes and finding best shipping methods – handle your e-commerce store actions all from one place via integrations

Reduce admin time and streamline accounting

With the Katana and QuickBooks integration, you can manage your inventory tracking, sales orders, manufacturing, finances, and customers in one place.

Getting started is simple — all you need to do is connect your QuickBooks and Katana accounts. Once you get your accounts linked according to the instructions here, you’ll be able to track on-hand, committed, and expected stock amounts in real time. With Katana, you can also use stocktakes to find and eliminate discrepancies in your stock levels.

As you have more information about your inventory status, your teams can reduce time spent on manual data tracking and concentrate on other tasks. Accounting employees can invest more time into analyzing your company’s financial performance, while your shop floor operators concentrate on delivering quality products.

E-commerce order management will help workers understand what needs to be done, when to do it, and how to do it.

Advanced inventory software that can also handle your sales orders

Connecting Katana to your accounting software helps optimize your QuickBooks inventory management. However, integrating those two platforms can also assist you with keeping all your sales orders in sync. It takes minimal manual effort, and you can easily cut admin time to focus on other tasks that need your attention.

When you change the status of an order in Katana, the system automatically generates, and updates invoices based on sales orders and bills based on purchase orders. This eliminates the need to manually transfer data from one platform to another.

Katana also allows you to directly access bills and invoices on your QuickBooks account by clicking on them, eliminating the need to juggle between multiple platforms.

QuickBooks Inventory Tracking FAQs
Can I track inventory in QuickBooks Online?

Yes, QuickBooks inventory management features are available for users who are paying for the QuickBooks Online Plus plan or more expensive plans like Enterprise (see below).

QuickBooks Online offers income and expenses tracking, and it can send custom invoices or quotes to your clients.

What are the limitations of using QuickBooks inventory management in manufacturing?

Many manufacturers use QuickBooks Online to manage their finances, but the software has some limitations regarding inventory management. QuickBooks is not designed specifically for manufacturing businesses, so it lacks some of the features that would be essential for managing a manufacturing business’ inventory.

One of the biggest limitations is its lack of support for multiple locations. QuickBooks only allows businesses to track inventory in one location, which can be a problem for manufacturers who have inventory spread out across multiple warehouses or facilities.

Another limitation of QuickBooks is its lack of support for lot tracking and serial numbers. This can be a major problem for manufacturers, who need to track these things to comply with quality control standards.

Finally, QuickBooks cannot also track assembly orders. This can be a problem for manufacturers who assemble products from multiple components.

Despite these limitations, QuickBooks can still be a useful tool for managing a manufacturing business’ finances. The software is relatively easy to use and can help businesses keep track of their income and expenses. However, businesses that need more robust inventory management features may want to consider using specialized manufacturing software instead of QuickBooks.

What are the differences between QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Enterprise?

QuickBooks Online is accounting software for small-to-medium-sized businesses.

QuickBooks Enterprise is the same software, with dozens of additional features, for large-sized businesses.

QuickBooks Desktop is also the same software, but instead of being a cloud-based accounting software for multiple users, the desktop version is locally installed and charges more per user.

You can easily do QuickBooks online inventory management on Enterprise, but unless you operate a large business with more than 500 employees, it’s not the optimal financial choice.

There are more QuickBooks plans available for business owners and middle-level managers, but be sure to double-check the plans as the names of the plans are different in Europe and the USA.

How do I connect Katana with QuickBooks Online?

We have made several tutorial and training videos on integrating QuickBooks and Katana management software. You can find the initial integration video in Katana’s Knowledge Base here.

Can I import my customers and suppliers from QuickBooks to Katana?

Yes. During the initial connection, you can select to import your customers and suppliers from Katana to QuickBooks. The contacts are later matched when orders are pushed from Katana to QuickBooks.

Which versions of QuickBooks are being phased out?
